Epidemiological Profile of Patients with Conjuntival Tumors in a Reference Ophthalmological Hospital in Eastern Amazonia

This research aimed to report the prevalence of conjunctival tumors, and their severity between genders, age groups, observe distribution laterality in patients a public health service Belém do Pará, Eastern Amazon, Brazil. Methods: Data were collected,at Bettina de Souza Ferro University Hospital,in253medical records for last 12 years (2010 2022),regarding tumors removed examined histopathologically by Department Ophthalmology Federal Pará (UFPA). The incidence tumorsundergoing excision surgery,the malignancy rate, margins investigated, matched gender, age, laterality. Results: Subjects included161men 92 women, with mean 49.4± 47.2 years. Of these, 193 benign (76.3%), most commonly found: 99 Pterygium; followed 28Epidermoid Carcinomas;24Pyogenic Granulomas;20Intraepithelial Neoplasia 18squamous papilloma. Among 31 cases (23.7%) malignant number male was 21 female 10. Most composed squamous cell carcinoma (28 cases), melanoma (3 cases). 65.0 ± years, as more prevalent older (chi-square,p<0.001). Conclusions: common thepterygium Epidermoid Carcinomas, present patients, younger older, respectively.
